Hans Beirer
Debut 1936 (Linz, part of Jenick/Hans in Smetana’s The Bartered Bride). Gained fame as a performer of the Wagner repertoire. He performed at La Scala many times (since 1950 as Tannhäuser and Parsifal). In 1952, he performed there as Walther in the Nuremberg Meistersingers directed by Furtwängler. Sang in a number of it. t-ditch (Berlin, Stuttgart, Hamburg). Sang in Covent Garden (1953, Sigmund in the Valkyrie). He performed at the Vienna Opera (1962-87, where he performed his last performance as Aegisthus in Elektra). From 1958 he regularly sang at the Bayreuth Festival (parts of Parsifal, Tannhäuser, Tristan). Member of the premiere series of op. Einem (“Visit of the Old Lady”, 1971; “Cunning and Love”, 1976). He starred in film versions of the operas by R. Strauss “Salome” (1974, Herod), “Electra” (1981, Egist).
