Debut 1931 (Mainz). He performed in Hamburg, Stuttgart. In 1942, at the Salzburg Festival, he performed the part of Bartolo in Le nozze di Figaro. After the war, he successfully performed at the Grand Opera (1956, the parts of Pizarro in Fidelio, Alberich in Der Ring des Nibelungen), the Vienna Opera and others. Neidlinger became famous as a performer of Wagnerian parts. In 1952-75 he performed at the Bayreuth Festival (parts of Amfortas in Parsifal, Alberich and others). Sang the part of Alberich at the Metropolitan Opera (1973). Participated in the 1st studio recording of Der Ring des Nibelungen led by Solti (Alberich, Decca).
