She made her debut in 1835 (Trieste, the title role in Rossini’s Matilde di Chabran). She sang on the stages of leading theaters (Vienna Opera, La Scala). In 1848 she became the wife of Verdi, who wrote for the singer the part of Abigail in Nabucco (1842). She was also the first performer of the part of Leonora in his own opera Oberto (1839). Other roles include Norm, Lucia, Amin in La Sonnambula. In 1845 she lost her voice. In 1846 she opened a vocal school in Paris.
