Greek gamma
1) The third letter of the Greek. alphabet (G, g), was used in the medieval alphabetic system to designate the lowest sound – the salt of a large octave (see Musical Alphabet).
2) Scale – the succession of all sounds (steps) of the fret, located, starting from the main tone, in ascending or descending order. The scale has the volume of an octave, but can be continued according to the same principle of building both up and down into adjacent octaves. Gamma expresses the quantitative composition of the mode and the pitch ratios of its steps. In music, scales of 7-step diatonic frets, 5-step anhemitone frets, as well as 12-sound chromatic frets have been used. The performance of various scales and their various combinations is practiced as a means of developing the technique of playing musical instruments, as well as in the process of learning to sing.
