Born September 10, 1795 in Nantes. French composer and organist.
In 1819-1872 he was a professor at the Paris Conservatory, from 1840 he was a choirmaster at the Paris Opera. Author of the ballets The Gypsy Woman (together with A. Thomas and Marliani, 1839), The Demon in Love (together with Reber, 1839:-1840), Nizida, or the Amazons of the Azores (1848), Paqueretta (1851) . All ballets were staged at the Paris Opera.
François Benois died on May 3, 1878 in Paris.
