Italian conductor. Debut 1883 (Parma). In the same year he performed Othello at the Metropolitan Opera. Campanini participated in the world premieres of the operas Adriana Lecouvreur by Cilea (1902, Milan), Madama Butterfly (1904, Milan). 1st performer in the USA of Debussy’s Pelléas et Mélisande, Charpentier’s Louise, Massenet’s Thais and others. at the Chicago Opera.
