He sang in the church choir. In 1857-81 soloist of the Mariinsky Theatre. 1st performer of the parts of Pimen (1874), Eliakim, Dobrynya-Nikitich and Ilya in op. “Judith”, “Rogneda” and “Enemy Force” by Serov, Zhemchuzhny in op. Tchaikovsky “Oprichnik” (1874). Among other parties, we note Ivan Susanin, Leporello.
