Rita Gorr (Rita Gorr) |
Rita Gorr
Debut 1949 (Antwerp, Fricky in the Rhine Gold). She sang at the Bayreuth Festival (1958-59). She was a soloist at the Opera Comic (debut as Charlotte in Werther). Gorr had great success as Amneris at Covent Garden (1959) and the Metropolitan Opera (1962). Since 1958, she has repeatedly performed at La Scala (Santuzza in Rural Honor, Kundri in Parsifal). The singer’s repertoire also included the roles of Azucena, Ulrika in Un ballo in maschera, Delilah, and others. In the 90s, she sang the roles of the Countess and Kabanikha in the opera Katya Kabanova by Janacek. An important place in Gorr’s work is occupied by the French repertoire. Her recordings in the operas Dialogues des Carmelites by Poulenc (part of Madame de Croissy, conductor Nagano), Samson and Delilah (title role, conductor Prétre, both EMI) are of considerable interest.
