Debut 1882 (Kyiv, part of Sobinin in the opera A Life for the Tsar). In 1883-1904 he sang at the Bolshoi Theatre. Member of a number of world premieres (including The Ice House by A. Koreshchenko, 1900). He performed repeatedly with Chaliapin. Among the parties are Lensky, Prince, Faust, Radames, Lohengrin and others. In 1904-06 he kept a private enterprise in Tiflis.
