Kurt Boehme
In 1930-50 he performed in Dresden. Participant in the world premiere of op. R. Strauss “The Silent Woman” (1937), op. Zoetermeister “Romeo and Julia” (1940). In 1936 he sang at Covent Garden (Commander in Don Juan). In 1952-67 he performed at the Bayreuth Festival (Pogner in The Nuremberg Meistersingers, Klingsor in Parsifal, etc.). At the Salzburg Festival he sang in the premieres of Op. Lieberman “Penelope” (1954), Egk “Irish Legend” (1955). He has performed at the Metropolitan Opera since 1954 (debut as Pogner). In 1956-70 again at Covent Garden (parts in op. Wagner, Baron Ochs in The Rosenkavalier). Participated in one of the best recordings of Der Ring des Nibelungen (Fafner part, dir. Solti, Decca). Recordings also include Sarastro’s part in The Magic Flute (dir. Böhm, Decca) and others.
