Debut 1888 (Grand Opera, Margarita). From 1891 at La Scala, where her debut in Massenet’s Sid (Jimena) was a great success. The skill of Darkle was highly appreciated by Verdi, Puccini, Leoncavallo and other composers. Darkle is the first performer of the part of Tosca, on her advice the composer wrote the famous aria from 1 acts. Art lives. For Darkla, the title roles were composed in Catalani’s Valli, Mascagni’s Iris, and others. The range of the singer’s voice allowed her to sing mezzo-soprano parts as well.
