Gilda Dalla Rizza
Debut 1912 (Bologna, Charlotte in Werther). Since 1915, she performed in Buenos Aires (the Colon Theatre), in 1923-39 she sang at La Scala, often in performances led by Toscanini. The skill of the singer was highly appreciated by Puccini. The roles of Magda in the opera The Swallow (1917, Monte Carlo), Liu in the opera Turandot (1926, Milan) were written especially for Dalla Rizza. The roles of Lauretta in Gianni Schicchi, Minnie in The Girl from the West (both Puccini), Violetta, Marshalsha in The Rosenkavalier and others are also significant achievements in the singer’s work. We also note the participation of Dalla Rizza in the premiere of the opera Juliet and Romeo » Zandonai (1922). Performed at Covent Garden (1920). Leaving the stage in 1942, she was engaged in pedagogical work.
