Eugene Goossens |

He was Beecham’s assistant at the British National Opera Company (1916-20). Member of Diaghilev’s “Russian Seasons” (1921-26). From 1922 he performed at Covent Garden. Here he staged his operas Judith (1929) and Don Juan de Manyara (1937). After the war, Goossens lived in Australia, where he was director of the conservatory and conductor of the Sydney Symphony Orchestra.
