Elena Zelenskaya is one of the leading sopranos of the Bolshoi Theater of Russia. People’s Artist of Russia. Laureate of the Glinka Vocal Competition (2nd prize), laureate of the Rimsky-Korsakov International Competition (1st prize).

From 1991 to 1996 she was a soloist at the Novaya Opera Theater in Moscow, where for the first time in Russia she performed the roles of Queen Elizabeth (Donizetti’s Mary Stuart) and Valli (in Catalani’s opera Valli of the same name). In 1993 she performed as Gorislava (Ruslan and Lyudmila) at Lincoln Center and Carnegie Hall in New York, and Elizabeth (Mary Stuart) as Chance-Alice in Paris. From 1992-1995 she was a permanent participant of the Mozart in Schönbrun Opera Festival in Vienna – Donna Elvira (Don Giovanni) and the Countess (The Marriage of Figaro). Since 1996, Elena Zelenskaya has been a soloist of the Bolshoi Theater, where she sings the leading parts of the soprano repertoire: Tatyana (Eugene Onegin), Yaroslavna (Prince Igor), Liza (The Queen of Spades), Natalya (Oprichnik), Natasha ( Mermaid”), Kupava (“Snow Maiden”), Tosca (“Tosca”), Aida (“Aida”), Amelia (“Masquerade Ball”), Countess (“The Wedding of Figaro”), Leonora (“Force of Destiny”), soprano part in G. Verdi’s Requiem.

After a successful debut as Lady Macbeth (Macbeth, G. Verdi) in Switzerland, the singer receives an invitation to stage the opera The Power of Destiny as Leonora and Aida (Aida) at the Savonlinna International Opera Festival (Finland) and becomes its constant participant from 1998 to 2001. In 1998 she sang the part of Stefana in Giordano’s opera Siberia at the Wexford International Festival (Ireland). In 1999-2000, at the Bergen International Festival (Norway), she performed as Tosca (Tosca), Lady Macbeth (Macbeth), Santuzza (Country Honor), as well as Anna in Puccini’s Le Vili “. In the same 1999, in October, she was invited to the Deutsche Oper am Rhein (Düsseldorf) to play the part of Aida, and in December of the same year she sang Aida at the Deutsche Opera in Berlin. At the beginning of 2000 – the part of Lady Macbeth (“Macbeth”) at the Minnesota Opera in the USA, and then the part of Leonora (“Force of Destiny”) at the Royal Danish Opera. In September 2000, the role of Tosca (Tosca) at the Royal Opera La Coinette in Brussels, Britten’s War Requiem at the Los Angeles Philharmonic – conductor A. Papano. At the end of 2000 – New Israel Opera (Tel Aviv) staging of the opera Macbeth – Lady Macbeth part. 2001 – debut at the Metropolitan Opera (USA) – Amelia (“Un Ballo in Maschera”) – conductor P. Domingo, Aida (“Aida”), “Requiem” by G. Verdi at the San Diego Opera (USA). In the same 2001 – Opera-Mannheim (Germany) – Amelia (“Ball in Masquerade”), Maddalena (“Maddalena” by Prokofiev) at the Amsterdam Philharmonic, International Opera Festival in Caesarea (Israel) – Leonora (“The Power of Destiny “). In October of the same year, she performed the part of Mimi (La Boheme) at the Grand Opera Liceu (Barcelona). In 2002 – the Opera Festival in Riga – Amelia (Un Ballo in Maschera), and then in the New Israel Opera – Maddalena’s part in Giordano’s opera “Andre Chenier”.

The name of Elena Zelenskaya was proudly included in the book Golden Voices of the Bolshoi, published in 2011.

In 2015, a solo concert took place on the stage of the Great Hall of the Moscow Conservatory (for the 150th anniversary of the Moscow Conservatory). Elena Zelenskaya works with such outstanding conductors as: Lorin Maazel, Antonio Pappano, Marco Armigliato, James Levine, Daniele Callegari, Asher Fish, Daniil Warren, Maurizio Barbachini, Marcello Viotti, Vladimir Fedoseev, Mikhail Yurovsky, Sir Georg Solti, James Conlon.
