German singer (soprano). She made her debut in 1962 (Berlin, part Cio-Cio-san). In 1968 she sang at the Salzburg Easter Festival the part of Velgunda in Der Ring des Nibelungen (conductor Karajan). Since 1970 at the Metropolitan Opera (debut as the Queen of the Night). In 1971 she sang the role of Constanza in The Abduction from the Seraglio at the Vienna Opera. We also note the performance of the title role in Stravinsky’s The Nightingale (1972, London), the part of Armida in Handel’s Rinaldo (1984, Metropolitan Opera). Toured in the USSR (1978).

Other parts include Donna Anna, Leonora in “Fidelio”, Senta in “The Flying Dutchman” by Wagner, Marshalsha in “Rose of Cavalier”, Maria in “Wozzeke” by Berga and others. Among his recordings are Donny Anne (conductor Maazel, Artificial Eye), Queen’s Night (conductor Zavallish, EMI) and others.
