Laureate of international competitions. She graduated from the Yerevan State Conservatory after Komitas. Since 1999 she has been a soloist of the Armenian Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre. A. Spendiarova, where the singer performs the leading roles, including Leonora (“Troubadour” by Verdi, 2000), Norma (“Norma” by Bellini, 2007), Abigail (“Nabucco” by Verdi, 2007), Donna Anna (“Don Giovanni” by Mozart , 2009), Aida (Aida by Verdi, 2010).

Soprano Magda Mkrtchyan has become recognizable far beyond the borders of Armenia. With great success, the singer performed at the Doge’s Palace in Venice, in the Concert House in Berlin and Nikolai in Potsdam, in the Handel House in Halle, toured in various European countries and in the USA. Performances with conductors Giuseppe Sabbatini, Ogan Duryan, Eduard Topchyan were highly appreciated by critics and the public. The singer took part in the anniversary gala concerts of Elena Obraztsova in St. Petersburg (2009).

The singer’s repertoire covers a variety of chamber works, including vocal miniatures and cycles by Russian and Western European composers: Tchaikovsky, Rachmaninoff, Schubert, Schumann, Wagner, Brahms, Wolf, Vila-Lobos, Fauré, Gershwin, and works by contemporary Armenian composers. Mkrtchyan’s repertoire includes the main roles in operas by Mozart, Bellini, Verdi, Puccini, Tchaikovsky and others.

Outstanding talent and brilliant skill, bright artistry and extraordinary charm, an amazingly strong voice that captivates the audience with an incredible richness of timbre and beauty of sound – all this allows Magda Mkrtchyan to quickly and confidently win a leading position. The recognition that accompanies the singer today is the result of the thoughtful and selfless work of the artist, alien to the external side of success and striving for complete dedication in art. Critics especially note the originality of the talent of Magda Mkrtchyan, a singer who has absorbed the best traditions of the Italian opera school.
