Dennis O’Neill
Debut 1972 (Glasgow, part of the Duke in Bizet’s Belle of Perth). He performed at the Wexford Festival in 1973 (Sobinin’s part in A Life for the Tsar). From 1979 he sang for a number of years at Covent Garden (parts of the Duke, Rudolph, Pinkerton, Edgar in Lucia di Lammermoor, Macduff in Verdi’s Macbeth, etc.). He performed at the English National Opera. In 1987 he made his debut at the Metropolitan Opera (Rudolf). In 1989 he performed the role of Faust in Boito’s Mephistopheles in San Francisco. In 1994 he sang the part of Othello in Covent Garden, in 1995 the part of Radames in Munich, in 1997 the part of Calaf in Hamburg. Recordings include the part of Faust in Mephistopheles (LD, dir. Arena, Pioneer).
