Honored Artist of Russia Boris Petrushansky actively gives concerts in large halls in Europe, in North and South America, in the countries of the East and in Russia.

The pianist studied with G. Neuhaus and L. Naumov, became a laureate of international competitions in Leeds (1969th prize, 1971), Munich (for chamber ensemble, 1974nd prize, 1969), a diploma winner of the V International Tchaikovsky Competition (1975). In XNUMX he made his debut with the Academic Symphony Orchestra of the Leningrad Philharmonic conducted by A. Jansons. After a brilliant victory at the International A. Casagrande Competition in Terni (Italy, XNUMX) and outstanding performances at festivals in Spoleto and the Florentine Musical May, the musician’s concert life reached the international level.

Among the orchestras with which the artist performs are the State Academic Symphony Orchestra of Russia named after E.F. Svetlanov, orchestras of the Moscow, Czech, Helsinki Philharmonic, the Roman Academy of Santa Cecilia, Munich Radio, Staatskapelle Berlin, Moscow and Lithuanian Chamber Orchestras, New European Strings, Chamber Orchestra of the European Community and others. Among the conductors with whom the pianist collaborated are V. Gergiev, V. Fedoseev, D. Kitaenko, C. Abbado, E.-P. Salonen, P. Berglund, S. Sondetskis, M. Shostakovich, V. Yurovsky, Liu Zha, A. Nanut, A. Katz, J. Latham-Köning, P. Kogan and many others.

In addition to presenting various solo programs (his essay-concerts are unique: “The Wanderer in Romantic Music”, “Italy in the Russian Mirror”, “Dances of the XNUMXth Century”), the pianist performed in ensembles with L. Kogan, I. Oistrakh, M. Maisky, D. Sitkovetsky, M. Brunello, V. Afanasyev, K. Desderi, Borodin State Quartet, Berlin Philharmonic Quartet.

B. Petrushansky has been teaching at the International Piano Academy Incontri col Maestro in Imola (Italy) since 1991. In addition to concert activity, he conducts master classes in many countries of the world (Great Britain, Ireland, USA, Germany, Japan, Poland). The pianist is a member of the jury of numerous international competitions, including the F. Busoni competitions in Bolzano, G. B. Viotti in Vercelli, piano competitions in Paris, Orleans, South Korea and Warsaw. Among his students are winners of competitions in Leeds, Bolzano, in Japan, the USA, and Italy. In 2014, Boris Petrushansky was elected an academician of the Accademia delle Muse (Florence).

The pianist’s recordings of works by Brahms, Stravinsky, Liszt, Chopin, Schumann, Schubert, Prokofiev, Schnittke, Myaskovsky, Ustvolskaya were published by Melodiya (Russia), Art & Electronics (Russia/USA), Symposium (Great Britain) ), “Fone”, “Dynamic”, “Agora”, “Stradivarius” (Italy). Among his recordings is the Complete Piano Works of D. D. Shostakovich (2006).
