Anne-Sophie Mutter is one of the elite violin virtuosos of our time. Her brilliant career has been going on for 40 years – since the memorable day of August 23, 1976, when she made her debut at the Lucerne Festival at the age of 13. A year later she performed at the Trinity Festival in Salzburg conducted by Herbert von Karajan.
The owner of four Grammys, Anne-Sophie Mutter gives concerts in all the major music capitals and the most prestigious halls in the world. Her interpretations of the classics of the 24th-XNUMXth centuries and the music of her contemporaries are always inspired and convincing. In 2016, Anne-Sophie Mutter celebrates the anniversary of her creative activity. And her concert schedule this year, which includes performances in Europe and Asia, once again demonstrates her exceptional demand in the world of academic music. She has been invited to perform at the Salzburg Easter Festival and the Lucerne Summer Festival, with the London and Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestras, the New York and London Philharmonic Orchestras, the Vienna Philharmonic, the Saxon Staatschapel Dresden and the Czech Philharmonic.
March 9 at the London Barbican Hall, accompanied by the London Symphony Orchestra conducted by Thomas Ades Mutter performed the Brahms Violin Concerto, which she had previously recorded with Karajan and Kurt Masur.
On April 16, a memorial concert dedicated to the memory of Kurt Masur was held at the Leipzig Gewandhaus. Mutter played the Mendelssohn Concerto with the Gewandhaus Orchestra conducted by Michael Sanderling. She recorded this concerto in 2009 with the same orchestra conducted by Kurt Masur.

At the Salzburg Easter Festival, Beethoven’s triple Concerto was performed, in which Mutter’s partners were pianist Efim Bronfman, cellist Lynn Harrell and the Dresden Chapel conducted by Christian Thielemann. In the same stellar composition, the Beethoven Concerto was performed in Dresden.
In May, the magnificent ensemble of three inimitable soloists – Anne-Sophie Mutter, Efim Bronfman and Lynn Harrel – makes their first European tour, performing in Germany, Italy, Russia and Spain. The program of their performances includes Beethoven’s Trio No. 7 “Archduke Trio” and Tchaikovsky’s Elegiac Trio “In Memory of a Great Artist”.
The violinist’s immediate plans include performances of the Dvořák Concerto with the Czech Philharmonic in Prague and with the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra in Munich (both conducted by Manfred Honeck).
The June performance in Munich will be followed by recitals in Germany, France, Luxembourg, Austria and Switzerland with pianist Lambert Orkis, with works by Mozart, Poulenc, Ravel, Saint-Sens and Sebastian Courier.
Anne-Sophie Mutter has been associated with Lambert Orkis for almost 30 years of joint activity. Their recordings of Beethoven’s sonatas for violin and piano received a Grammy, and their recordings of Mozart’s sonatas received a prize from the French magazine Le Monde de la Musique.
In September, Anne-Sophie Mutter will perform at the Lucerne Summer Festival with the Lucerne Festival Academy Orchestra conducted by Alan Gilbert. The program includes Berg’s Concert “In Memory of an Angel”, Norbert Moret’s play “En Rêve”. Her recording of the Berg Concerto with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra conducted by James Levine received a Grammy in 1994. The artist will continue her performances in Japan as part of a solo tour of the countries of the Far East with Lambert Orkis: in addition to the Land of the Rising Sun, they will perform in China, Korea and Taiwan. And the 2016 concert calendar will end with a tour with the London Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Robert Ticciatti. In 2006, on the occasion of the 250th anniversary of Mozart’s birth, the artist presented new recordings of all Mozart’s compositions for violin. In September 2008, her recordings of Gubaidulina’s Concerto In tempus praesens and Bach’s concertos in A minor and E major were released. In 2009, on the 200th anniversary of Mendelssohn’s birth, the violinist paid tribute to the composer’s memory by recording his Violin Sonata in F Major, Piano Trio in D Minor and Violin Concerto on CD and DVD. In March 2010, an album of Brahms’ violin sonatas, recorded with Lambert Orkis, was released.
In 2011, in honor of the 35th anniversary of Anne-Sophie Mutter’s concert activity, Deutsche Grammophon released a collection of all her recordings, extensive documentary material and rarities that had not been published by that time. At the same time, an album of the first recordings of works by Wolfgang Rihm, Sebastian Courier and Krzysztof Penderecki dedicated to Mutter appeared. In October 2013, she presented the first recording of the Dvorak Concerto with the Berlin Philharmonic under Manfred Honeck. On August 28, 2015, the recording of Anne-Sophie Mutter’s concert at the Yellow Lounge in Berlin in May 2015 was released on CD, vinyl, DVD and Blu-ray disc.
