Anna Samuil graduated from the Moscow Conservatory in the class of solo singing with Professor I.K. Arkhipova in 2001, in 2003 she completed her postgraduate studies.
In 2001-2001 she was a soloist of the Moscow Academic Musical Theater named after K. S. Stanislavsky and Vl. I. Nemirovich-Danchenko, where she sang the parts of the Swan Princess, Adele, Queen of Shemakha, at the same time, as a guest soloist, she performed as Gilda (Rigoletto) and Violetta (La Traviata) on the stage of the Estonia Theater (Tallinn).
Anna made her European stage debut as Violetta at the Deutsche Staatsoper Berlin in September 2003 (conductor Daniel Barenboim), after which she was offered a permanent contract.
Since the 2004-2005 season, Anna Samuil has been the leading soloist of the Deutsche Staatsoper unter den Linden. On this stage, she performs such roles as Violetta (La Traviata), Adina (Love Potion), Micaela (Carmen), Donna Anna (Don Giovanni), Fiordiligi (Everyone Does It), Musetta (“La Boheme”), Eve (“The Nuremberg Meistersingers”), Alice Ford (“Falstaff”).
In October 2006, Anna made her debut on the stage of the famous La Scala Theater (Milan) in a new production of Mozart’s Don Giovanni (Donna Anna), and in December she made her successful debut at the Metropolitan Opera (New York) as Musetta in the opera La bohème with Anna Netrebko and Rolando Villazon (conductor Plácido Domingo).
In April 2007, Anna performed for the first time in the famous Bayerische Staatsoper (Munich) as Violetta, and in the summer she made her debut at the famous Salzburg Festival as Tatiana (Eugene Onegin), which was enthusiastically noted by both the international press and the Austrian public. The premiere of the performance was broadcast live on ORF and 3Sat channels.
Anna Samuil is the winner of many international competitions: “Claudia Taev” in Estonia, XIX International Glinka Competition (2001), vocal competition “Riccardo Zandonai” in Italy (2004); laureate of the 2002rd prize at the XII International Tchaikovsky Competition (Moscow, XNUMX), as well as a laureate of the international competitions Neue Stimmen (Germany) and Franco Corelli (Italy).
At the end of 2007, Anna received the “Daphne preis” (prize of the German press and audience) as the best young artist performing on the theater stages in Berlin.
Anna has also performed at the Opera de Lyon and at the Edinburgh International Festival (Maria in Tchaikovsky’s Mazepa), the Staatsoper Hamburg (Violetta and Adina), the Vest Norges Opera in Norway (Violetta and Musetta), at the Grand Theater Luxembourg (Violetta), in Japan at the Tokyo Bunka Kaikan Theater (Donna Anna), as well as at the world-famous Aix-en-Provence Opera Festival (Violetta).
The singer conducts an active concert activity. Among the most striking performances, it is worth noting the concerts at the Diabelli Sommer festival (Austria), at the Konzerthaus Dortmund, at the Theater Kahn festival in Dresden, at the Palais des Beaux Artes and on the stage of the La Monnaie theater in Brussels, on the stage of the Salle aux Grains in Toulouse (France) and at the Opera du Liege (Belgium). Anna Samuil is a laureate of the Irina Arkhipova Foundation Prize for 2003 (“For the first creative victories in the field of musical and theatrical art”).
