He received his musical education at the Kyiv Music and Drama Institute named after N. Lysenko and the Kyiv Conservatory in the composition classes of V. Zolotarev and L. Revutsky.
After graduating from the institute (1932), Svechnikov wrote music for performances in drama theaters in Kyiv and Donbass. He is the author of the symphonic poems “Karmelyuk” (1945) and “Shchors” (1949), suites, choral and chamber works on the themes of Ukrainian folk songs.
The music of the ballet “Marusya Boguslavka” is permeated with the intonations of the Ukrainian folk song. Turkish scenes are built on melodies endowed with a conditionally oriental flavor.
