Wieslaw Ochmann
Debut 1959 (Bytom, part of Edgar in Lucia di Lammermoor). He sang in various Polish theaters, in Berlin (since 1966), Hamburg. In 1968-70 he sang at the Glyndebourne Festival (parts of Lensky, Don Ottavio in Don Giovanni, Tamino). In 1973 he performed at the Salzburg Festival (Idomeneo in Mozart’s opera of the same name). Since 1975 at the Metropolitan Opera (debut as Arrigo in Verdi’s Sicilian Vespers, then performed a number of parts of the Russian repertoire, including the Pretender, Lensky). He performed at La Scala (1976), the Bolshoi Theater (1978). Other roles include Cavaradossi, Alfred, José, Herman, Yontek in Moniuszko’s Pebble. In 1995 he performed at the Deutsche Oper (The Pretender). Among the recordings of the role of Laca in “Enufa” Janacek (conducted by I. Kveler. BIS), Yontek (conducted by R. Satanovsky, SRO) and others.
