Peter Anders
Debut 1932 (Heidelberg, part of Jacquino in Fidelio). He performed in Cologne, Hannover, Munich. In 1938 he participated in the world premiere of the opera The Day of Peace by R. Strauss. In 1940-48 he was a soloist of the German State Opera in Berlin. In 1941 he performed the part of Tamino at the Salzburg Festival. After the war, he gained worldwide fame. He toured with the troupe of the Hamburg Opera in 1952 at the Edinburgh Festival (Max’s part in The Free Gunner, Florestan in Fidelio, Walter in Wagner’s Nuremberg Mastersingers). Other parts include Othello, Radamès, Belmont in Mozart’s Abduction from the Seraglio, Lionel in Flotov’s March. He performed as a chamber singer. Tragically died in a car accident.
