American singer (soprano). She made her debut in 1972 (New York, in the world premiere of Thomson’s Lord Byron). She sang the title role in Cavalli’s Callisto (1974, Glyndebourne Festival). She sang the parts of Suzanne (1978, Berlin), Pamina (1981, Salzburg Festival). In 1982 she made her debut at the Grand Opera (the title role in Romeo and Juliet by Gounod). Since 1982 she sang in Covent Garden, in the same year she successfully performed the part of Liu at the Metropolitan Opera. In 1986 she sang the part of Gilda at the Deutsche Oper Berlin, the part of Sophie in the Rosenkavalier (Vienna Opera, Metropolitan Opera). She performed the part of Manon in Parma (1991). She performed at the Orange Festival (1992, Michaela).

Brilliant performer of the chamber repertoire. Recordings include Leila in Bizet’s The Pearl Seekers (dir. Plasson, EMI), Clara in Porgy and Bess (dir. Maazel, Decca).
