Nicole Cabell
Nicole Cabelle is a singer with a rich, soft and refined voice and excellent acting skills. Last season she sang Michaela (Bizet’s Carmen) at the Metropolitan Opera (New York) and the Chicago Lyric Opera, Leila (Bizet’s The Pearl Fishers) at Covent Garden (London) and Pamina (The Magic Flute) Mozart) at the Cincinnati Opera House (USA), and also made her debut as Donna Elvira (Mozart’s Don Giovanni) at the Cologne Opera and Deutsche Oper Berlin. The singer’s concert activity was marked by participation in the Edinburgh Festival, Gala concerts in Kuala Lumpur with the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra, and numerous solo performances.
Recent operatic engagements include Musetta in Puccini’s La bohème at the Metropolitan Opera and the Teatro Colon (Buenos Aires), Adina in Donizetti’s L’elisir of love, The Countess in Mozart’s Le nozze di Figaro at the Lyric Opera in Chicago. She made her debut with three of the largest American orchestras: the New York Philharmonic, Boston and Cleveland Symphony, continued her collaboration with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, taking part in the performance of Mahler’s 4th symphony, and also sang the soprano part in Mahler’s 2nd symphony, first with the Singapore Symphony Orchestra and then with the Orchestra of the Accademia di Santa Cecilia conducted by Antonio Pappano in Rome.
In the 2009-2010 season, Nicole Cabelle made her debut at the Metropolitan Opera as Pamina (Mozart’s Magic Flute) and Adina (Donizetti’s Love Potion). She performed the part of Leila (The Pearl Seekers by Bizet) at the Lyric Opera (Chicago) and took part in an opera concert in Millennium Park conducted by E. Davis. A number of operatic debuts were replenished with the roles of the Countess (“The Marriage of Figaro” by Mozart) at the Cincinnati Opera (USA) and Michaela (“Carmen” by Bizet) at the Deutsche Oper (Berlin).
In the 2007-2008 season, Nicole Cabelle sang the role of Musetta in Puccini’s La bohème at the Lyric Opera of Chicago, at the Covent Garden Theater and at the Washington Opera. Among the most significant events of the season are the performance of Pamina (Mozart’s Magic Flute) with Opera Pacific, participation in a concert performance of Donizetti’s Don Pasquale with Bayerischer Rundfunk, solo performances in London, Munich, Lyon, Oslo, Tokyo, Pittsburgh, Christmas concerts with New York Pops at Carnegie Hall, the release of the first CD for Decca “Nicole Cabell, Soprano”.
In previous seasons, Nicole Cabelle made her debut at major US opera houses, as well as in London at the BBC Proms, took part in the Spoleto Festival, sang the soprano parts in Poulenc’s Gloria and Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony in Louisville.
During her internship at the Chicago Lyric Opera Center for American Artists, she performed operas by Janáček and Beethoven, made a resounding debut with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, and performed Brahms’ German Requiem as part of her European debut in Rome with the Santa Cecilia Academy Orchestra.
