Debut on the opera stage in 1952 (Amsterdam, title role in Stravinsky’s The Nightingale). From 1953 at La Scala, in 1954-56 and 1961 she sang at the Glyndebourne Festival (Zerbinetta in R. Strauss’s Ariadne auf Naxos, Constanza in Mozart’s The Abduction from the Seraglio, Queen of the Night), in 3 she successfully sang the part of the Queen of Shemakha in Covent Garden. Since 1954 at the Metropolitan Opera, where she sang Olympia with great success in Offenbach’s The Tales of Hoffmann. In 1956-1957 she performed in Stockholm. Toured in the USSR (73).
