She made her debut in 1900 (Paris, the title role in the opera Louise by G. Charpentier). 1st performer of the title role in Debussy’s Pelléas et Mélisande (1902, Paris). She performed with success until 1906 on the stage of the Opera Comic. Since 1907 in the USA. From 1910 she sang at the Chicago Opera, where she sang mainly parts of the French repertoire (Carmen, Marguerite, Ophelia in Thomas’ Hamlet, a number of parts in Massenet’s operas). She was the director of this theater in 1921-22 (in 1921, with her assistance, the world premiere of the opera Love for Three Oranges by Prokofiev was held here). In 1930 she returned to the Opera Comic again. She performed here in 1934 the role of Katyusha in Alfano’s Resurrection. Author of the memoir The Mary Garden Story (1951).
