Alexander Buzlov is one of the brightest and most talented young Russian musicians. According to the New York Times, he “is a cellist of true Russian tradition, with a great gift for making the instrument sing, captivating the audience with his sound.”

Alexander Buzlov was born in Moscow in 1983. In 2006 he graduated from the Moscow Conservatory (class of Professor Natalia Gutman). During his studies, he was a scholarship holder of the international charitable foundations of M. Rostropovich, V. Spivakov, N. Guzik (USA), “Russian Performing Arts”. His name was entered in the Golden Book of Young Talents of Russia “XX century – XXI century”. Currently A. Buzlov teaches at the Moscow Conservatory and is an assistant to Professor Natalia Gutman. Conducts master classes in Russia, USA and Europe.

The cellist won his first Grand Prix, Mozart 96, in Monte Carlo at the age of 13. A year later, the musician was awarded the Grand Prix at the Virtuosi of the 70st Century competition in Moscow, and also performed in the Great Hall of the Moscow Conservatory at a concert dedicated to the 2000th anniversary of M. Rostropovich. Soon followed by victories at international competitions in Leipzig (2001), New York (2005), Jeuness Musicales in Belgrade (2000), the Grand Prix of the All-Russian competition “New Names” in Moscow (2003). In XNUMX, Alexander was awarded the Triumph Youth Prize.

In September 2005, he received the II prize at one of the most prestigious music competitions in the world – ARD in Munich, in 2007 he was awarded a silver medal and two special prizes (for the best performance of Tchaikovsky’s music and a prize from the Rostropovich and Vishnevskaya Foundation) at the XIII International competition named after P.I. Tchaikovsky in Moscow, and in 2008 won second place at the 63rd International Cello Competition in Geneva, the oldest music competition in Europe. One of the latest achievements of Alexander Buzlov was the Grand Prix and the audience award at the International Competition. E. Feuermann in Berlin (2010).

The musician tours a lot in Russia and abroad: in the USA, England, Scotland, Germany, France, Israel, Switzerland, Austria, Norway, Malaysia, South Korea, Japan, Belgium, Czech Republic. As a soloist, he performs with many well-known ensembles, including the Mariinsky Theater Orchestra, the Honored Collective of Russia, the Academic Symphony Orchestra of the St. Petersburg Philharmonic, the State Symphony Orchestra “New Russia”, the State Academic Symphony Orchestra of Russia. E.F. Svetlanov, the National Philharmonic Orchestra of Russia, the Tchaikovsky Symphony Orchestra, the Moscow Soloists Chamber Ensemble, the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Munich Chamber Orchestra and many others. He has played under such conductors as Valery Gergiev, Yuri Bashmet, Vladimir Fedoseev, Yuri Temirkanov, Vladimir Spivakov, Mark Gorenstein, Leonard Slatkin, Yakov Kreutzberg, Thomas Sanderling, Maria Eklund, Claudio Vandelli, Emil Tabakov, Mitsiyoshi Inoue.

In 2005 he made his debut at the famous Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center in New York. He has performed with many US orchestras and traveled to almost every US state.

A. Buzlov is also in demand in the field of chamber music. In ensembles, he played with such famous performers as Martha Argerich, Vadim Repin, Natalia Gutman, Yuri Bashmet, Denis Matsuev, Julian Rakhlin, Alexei Lyubimov, Vasily Lobanov, Tatyana Grindenko and many others.

He has taken part in many international music festivals: in Colmar, Montpellier, Menton and Annecy (France), “Elba – the Musical Island of Europe” (Italy), in Verbier and the Seiji Ozawa Academy Festival (Switzerland), in Usedom, Ludwigsburg (Germany), “Dedication to Oleg Kagan” in Kreuth (Germany) and Moscow, “Musical Kremlin”, “December Evenings”, “Moscow Autumn”, chamber music festival of S. Richter and ArsLonga, Crescendo, “Stars of the White Nights”, “Square of Arts” and “Musical Olympus” (Russia), “YCA Week Chanel, Ginza” (Japan).

The musician has records on radio and TV in Russia, as well as on the radio of Germany, Switzerland, France, USA, Austria. In the summer of 2005, his debut disc was released with recordings of sonatas by Brahms, Beethoven and Schumann.

Alexander Buzlov teaches at the Moscow Conservatory and is an assistant to Professor Natalia Gutman. Gives master classes in Russia, USA and European countries.
