Adamo Didur
Debut 1894 (Rio de Janeiro, part of Mephistopheles). He sang in Warsaw, in 1896 he made his debut at La Scala (Wotan in the Rhine Gold). In 1905 he sang at Covent Garden (collen’s parts in La bohème, Leporello). In 1906 he performed at La Scala as Tomsky. In 1908-33 soloist at the Metropolitan Opera (debut as Mephistopheles). Here Didur for the first time in the United States performed a number of roles in Russian operas (Boris Godunov, Gremin, Konchak), was in 1910 a participant in the world premiere of Puccini’s opera The Girl from the West and other operas. The last years of his life he lived in his homeland, staged Moniuszko’s opera “Pebbles” in Katowice (1945), taught. Among the parties are also Tsar Dodon in The Golden Cockerel, Don Alfonso in Everyone Does It, Basilio and others.
