Whole tone fret (whole tone fret) – symmetrical. fret, which is based on a whole-tone six-tone (gamma or chord). Applies Ch. arr. in the form of a whole-tone scale, although it is also possible in the form of a system of main. tones arranged in whole tones (cf. increased mode, reduced mode). Sample C. l. (almost the entire piece is in bcde-fis-gis) see here.

The function of support is performed here by the center. tone b. Due to the structural relationship of the whole-tone series and SW. triads C. l. often very similar to SW. way and can be combined with its foundations (M. I. Glinka, “Ruslan and Lyudmila”, Scene of the abduction of Lyudmila). C. l. limited in their arts. opportunities. See Symmetrical modes, Fret rhythm.
