Without exaggeration, Viktor Tretyakov can be called one of the symbols of the Russian violin school. Excellent mastery of the instrument, incredible stage energy and deep penetration into the style of the works performed – all these qualities characteristic of the violinist have attracted a huge number of music lovers all over the world for many years.

Starting his musical education at the Irkutsk Music School and then continuing it at the Central Music School, Viktor Tretyakov brilliantly completed it at the Moscow State Conservatory in the class of the legendary teacher Yuri Yankelevich. Already in those years, Yu.I. Yankelevich wrote about his student:

“Great musical talent, sharp, clear intellect. Viktor Tretyakov is generally a versatile and broad-minded person. What attracts him is a huge artistic endurance and some kind of special endurance, elasticity.

In 1966, Viktor Tretyakov won the XNUMXst prize at the International Tchaikovsky Competition. From that time on, the brilliant concert activity of the violinist began. With constant success, he performs all over the world both as a soloist and in an ensemble with many outstanding conductors and musicians of our time, and participates in many international festivals.

The geography of his tour covers the UK, USA, Germany, Austria, Poland, Japan, the Netherlands, France, Spain, Belgium, the Scandinavian countries and Latin America. The violinist’s repertoire is based on violin concertos of the XNUMXth century (Beethoven, Mendelssohn, Brahms, Bruch, Tchaikovsky); his interpretations of works of the XNUMXth century, primarily those of Shostakovich and Prokofiev, are recognized as exemplary in Russian performing practice.

Victor Tretyakov manifests himself in a variety of creative activities: for example, from 1983 to 1991 he headed the State Chamber Orchestra of the USSR, becoming a follower of the legendary Rudolf Barshai as artistic director. Victor Tretyakov successfully combines concert performances with pedagogical and social activities.

For many years the musician has been a professor at the Moscow Conservatory and the Cologne Higher School of Music; he is regularly invited to conduct master classes, and serves as chairman of the Yu.I. Yankelevich Charitable Foundation. The violinist also repeatedly led the work of the jury of violinists at the International Tchaikovsky Competition.

Viktor Tretyakov has been awarded high titles and awards – he is a People’s Artist of the USSR, a laureate of the State Prize. Glinka, as well as awards to them. D.D. Shostakovich International Charitable Foundation Yu. Bashmet for 1996.
