He made his debut in 1898 (Rome, part of the Royal Herald in the opera Lohengrin). He sang from 1903 in Covent Garden (parts of Enrico in Lucia di Lammermoor, Figaro). In 1904 he performed for the first time at La Scala (Rigoletto). Repeatedly toured Russia (1904-07, St. Petersburg, Moscow, Odessa, Kharkov). Huge success accompanied the singer in the part of Hamlet in the opera of the same name by Tom (1908, Buenos Aires, theater “Colon”). This role, which he played from 1906, became one of the best in his career. In 1912, Ruffo made his first appearance in the USA. In 1921-29 he was a soloist at the Metropolitan Opera (debut as Figaro). Other roles include Tonio in Pagliacci, Amonasro, Iago, Count di Luna, Barnabas in Ponchielli’s Gioconda, Scarpia, Falstaff and others. Participated in the world premieres of operas by Giordano and Panisa. Titta Ruffo is one of the most outstanding singers of the 1931th century. He sang on the leading stages of the world, in 1935 he ended his theatrical career. He gave his last concert in 1937 (Cannes). Author of a book of memoirs (1904, in Russian translation: “The parabola of my life”). From XNUMX he recorded on records.
