Debut 1957 (Ex, Dorabella’s part in “Everybody Does It That Way”). In 1958 she sang Cherubino at the Glyndebourne Festival. On the stage of Covent Garden since 1959. She performed at La Scala. Since 1967 at the Metropolitan Opera (debut as Cherubino). In 1977 she performed the part of Carmen with great success at the Edinburgh Festival. In 1989 she sang it at the Grand Opera. Among the best parties are also the title role in Rossini’s Cinderella (1977, Grand Opera, etc.), Isabella in The Italian Girl in Algiers, Rosina. She sang in operas by Handel, Purcell, Mozart. She performs as a chamber singer. A bright performer of the Spanish repertoire. Recordings include Carmen (1977, conductor Abbado, Deutsche Grammophon), Salud in Falla’s Life is Short (1992, Deutsche Grammophon, conductor G. Navarro), Rosina (conductor Abbado, Deutsche Grammophon; Varviso, Decca) and many others.
