Stefka Evstatieva

Debut 1972 (Ruse, part of Amelia in Ball in Masquerade). Since 1978 at the Bulgarian National Opera in Sofia. Since the 80s, he has performed extensively abroad (Vienna Opera, debut as Leonora in Il trovatore, Covent Garden, Desdemona, 1981). Since 1984 at the Metropolitan Opera (debut as Elizabeth in the opera Don Carlos). In 1993 she sang the role of Santuzza in the opera Rural Honor at the Baths of Caracalla (Rome). In 1996 she sang at the Metropolitan Opera as Madeleine in André Chénier. She recorded a number of roles in Russian operas (among them Yaroslavna, Lisa, conductor Chakyrov, both Sony).
