Sonya Yoncheva (soprano) graduated from the National School of Music and Dance in her native Plovdiv in piano and vocals, and then from the Geneva Conservatory (faculty of “Classical singing”). Received a special award from the city of Geneva.

In 2007, after studying at the Jardin des Vois (Garden of Voices) workshop organized by conductor William Christie, Sonya Yoncheva began to receive invitations from such prestigious musical institutions as the Glyndebourne Festival, the Swiss National Radio and Television, the Chatelet Theater “(France), festival “Proms” (Great Britain).

Later, the singer took part in productions of the Real Theater in Madrid, the La Scala Theater in Milan, the Prague National Opera, the Lille Opera House, the Brooklyn Academy of Music in New York, and the Montpellier Festival. She has performed at the Tonhalle concert halls in Zurich, the Verdi Conservatoire in Milan, the Cite de la Musique in Paris, the Lincoln Center in New York, the Barbican Center in London and other venues. In the autumn of 2010, as part of the Les Arts Florissants ensemble conducted by William Christie, Sonya Yoncheva performed in Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas (Dido) at the Tchaikovsky Concert Hall in Moscow and at the Concert Hall of the Mariinsky Theater in St. Petersburg.

In 2010, Sonya Yoncheva won the prestigious Operalia vocal competition, held annually by Placido Domingo and that year held in Milan on the stage of the La Scala theater. She was awarded the 2007st prize and the special prize “CulturArte” awarded by Bertita Martinez and Guillermo Martinez. In XNUMX, at the Aix-en-Provence festival, she was awarded the Special Prize for her performance of the part of Fiordiligi (Mozart’s So Do Everyone). Sonya Yoncheva is a laureate of numerous competitions in Bulgaria: German and Austrian Classical Music Competition (2001), Bulgarian Classical Music (2000), Young Talents Competition (2000). Together with her brother Marin Yonchev, the singer won the title of “Singer of the Year 2000” at the “Hit 1” contest, organized and produced by the Bulgarian National Television. The singer’s repertoire includes works of various musical styles from baroque to jazz. She performed the part of Thais from Massenet’s opera of the same name for the first time, with great success, in Geneva in 2007.
