Simone Kermes
German opera singer (coloratura soprano), according to the press – “Queen of the Baroque” (and even “crazy queen of the Baroque”).
She studied at the Leipzig Higher School of Music and Theatre, attended master classes by Elisabeth Schwarzkopf, Barbara Schlick, Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau. In 1993 she won first prize at the Mendelssohn-Bartholdy Competition in Berlin, and in 1996 she won second prize at the International J.S. Bach Competition in Leipzig. She has performed at the Champs-Elysées Theater in Paris, the Stuttgart State Opera, at major festivals in Baden-Baden, Schwetzingen, Schleswig-Holstein, Cologne, Dresden, Bonn, Zurich, Vienna, Innsbruck, Barcelona, Lisbon, Moscow, Prague, etc.
She has a fantastic musical temperament (hence her nickname in the press – baroque star).
The basis of the singer’s repertoire is baroque opera (Purcell, Vivaldi, Pergolesi, Gluck, Handel, Mozart). She also performed in operas by Verdi, operettas by Strauss, and others.
Award of the German Record Critics for the Achievement of the Year (2003). Echo-Classic Award – Singer of the Year (2011).
