Started out as a baritone. Debut 1916 (Santiago, part of Valentine in Faust). From 1919 at the Metropolitan Opera (debut as Amonasro). Tenor debut 1924 (Naples, part of Raoul in Les Huguenots). One of the best parts of Zanelli is Otello (Covent Garden, 1928). Sang the part of Tristan at La Scala (1932). Other parts include Lohengrin, Alfred, Pollio in Norma, and others.
