Russian singer (tenor). From 1913 he sang on the stage of the People’s House. The first performer of Parsifal on the Russian stage (1913). In 1918-47 he was a soloist at the Mariinsky Theatre. Participated in the first productions on the Russian stage of Schreker’s Distant Ringing (1925) and Berg’s Wozzeck (1927, drum major). Among the parties are also the Pretender, Canio, Radamès, Cavaradossi, Jose, and others. In the opera Judith Serov (Achior’s part) was Chaliapin’s partner.
