Russian singer (mezzo-soprano). Debut 1874 at the Mariinsky Theater (part of Vanya). She sang in this theater until 1886 and in 1891-1906. Kamenskaya’s talent was appreciated by Tchaikovsky, in a number of whose operas she sang with success. Kamenskaya is the first performer of the roles of Joanna in The Maiden of Orleans, Martha in Iolanthe, Spring-Red in The Snow Maiden, Solokha in Rimsky-Korsakov’s The Night Before Christmas. Among other parties Filippyevna in “Eugene Onegin”, Amneris (the first performer on the Russian stage), etc.
