She performed in California from 1947. She made her opera debut in 1950 (Metropolitan Opera, where she was invited by Bing). She sang the roles of Nedda, Aida, Mimi, Donna Anna, etc. In 1955-58 she successfully performed at the Glyndebourne Festival (Donna Elvira in Don Juan, Ariadne in Ariadne auf Naxos by R. Strauss). In 1960 she sang at the Vienna Opera (Aida, Nedda). In 1965 she toured the USSR. In 1983 she sang the role of Leonora in Verdi’s The Force of Destiny at the Metropolitan. She sang the part of Musetta in Beecham’s famous recording of La bohème (1956, EMI).
