Lilia Zilberstein is one of the brightest pianists of our time. A brilliant victory at the Busoni International Piano Competition (1987) marked the beginning of a bright international career as a pianist.

Lilia Zilberstein was born in Moscow and graduated from the Gnessin State Musical and Pedagogical Institute. In 1990 she moved to Hamburg and in 1998 she was awarded the first prize of the Chigi Academy of Music in Siena (Italy), which also included Gidon Kremer, Anne-Sophie Mutter, Esa-Pekka Salonen. Lilia Silberstein was a visiting professor at the Hamburg School of Music and Theatre. Since 2015 he has been a professor at the Vienna University of Music and Performing Arts.

The pianist performs a lot. In Europe, her engagements have included performances with the London Symphony Orchestra, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, the Vienna Symphony Orchestra, the Dresden State Capella, the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra, the Berlin Concert Hall Orchestra (Konzerthausorchester Berlin), the Philharmonic Orchestras of Berlin, Helsinki, the Czech Republic, the La Scala Theater Orchestra, the Symphony Orchestra Italian Radio in Turin, the Mediterranean Orchestra (Palermo), the Belgrade Philharmonic Orchestra, the Miskolc Symphony Orchestra in Hungary, the Moscow State Academic Symphony Orchestra conducted by Pavel Kogan. L. Zilberstein collaborated with the best bands in Asia: the NHK Symphony Orchestra (Tokyo), the Taipei Symphony Orchestra. Among the North American ensembles with which the pianist has played are the symphony orchestras of Chicago, Colorado, Dallas, Flint, Harrisburg, Indianapolis, Jacksonville, Kalamazoo, Milwaukee, Montreal, Omaha, Quebec, Oregon, St. Louis, as well as the Florida Orchestra and the Pacific Symphony Orchestra.

Lilia Zilberstein has taken part in music festivals, including Ravinia, Peninsula, Chautauca, Mostly Mozart, and a festival in Lugano. The pianist has also given concerts in Alicante (Spain), Beijing (China), Lucca (Italy), Lyon (France), Padua (Italy).

Lilia Silberstein often performs in a duet with Martha Argerich. Their concerts were held with constant success in Norway, France, Italy and Germany. In 2003, a CD was released with the Brahms Sonata for Two Pianos performed by outstanding pianists.

Another successful tour of the United States, Canada and Europe was held by Lilia Zilberstein with violinist Maxim Vengerov. This duo was awarded a Grammy for Best Classical Recording and Best Chamber Performance for the recording of Brahms’ Sonata No. 3 for Violin and Piano, performed as part of the album Martha Argerich and Her Friends at the Lugano Festival (Martha Argerich and Friends: Live from the Lugano Festival, EMI label).

A new chamber ensemble appeared at Lilia Zilberstein with her sons, pianists Daniil and Anton, who, in turn, also perform in a duet.

Lilia Zilberstein has collaborated with the Deutsche Grammophon label on numerous occasions; she has recorded Rachmaninov’s Second and Third Concertos with Claudio Abbado and the Berlin Philharmonic, Grieg’s concerto with Neeme Järvi and the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra, and piano works by Rachmaninov, Shostakovich, Mussorgsky, Liszt, Schubert, Brahms, Debussy, Ravel, and Chopin.

In the 2012/13 season, the pianist took the place of a “guest artist” with the Stuttgart Philharmonic Orchestra, performed with the Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra, the National Symphony Orchestra of Mexico and the Minas Gerais Philharmonic Orchestra (Brazil), took part in projects of the musical community Musical Bridges (San Antonio) .
