Bulgarian singer Krasimira Stoyanova has long been an Austrian citizen and lives in Vienna. A permanent soloist of the Vienna State Opera (since 1999), she is in demand on the best opera stages in the world. But my meeting with her as an opera singer – unfortunately, the only one – took place back in 2003 in Halevy’s Zhidovka, in the famous production of the Vienna Opera, in which she sang the part of Rasheli (Rachel) with the legendary Eleazar – Neil Shikoff. It was one of the performances of the May 2003 series that was recorded on DVD. And this means that a huge number of music lovers all over the world will be able to get acquainted with the surprisingly sincere and emotionally attractive art of this singer.

Today, Krasimira Stoyanova’s voice, incredibly plastic in texture, can be classified as a confidently developed lyric-dramatic soprano. What is more in it – lyrics or drama – is difficult to say. In each of her roles, the singer is different, not repeating and always using exactly the set of her singing palette that is necessary for the interpretation of a particular character or work.
