Ernest Blanc

Debut 1950 (Marseille). Since 1954 at the Grand Opera (parts of Rigoletto, Scarpia). He performed at the Bayreuth Festival. 1958-59 (Telramund in Lohengrin). He sang at the Glyndebourne Festival with Sutherland (1960, as Don Giovanni, Richard in Bellini’s The Puritans). He performed in San Francisco, Chicago, Vienna, Milan. In 1987 he performed as Germont in Marseille, after which he left the stage. He recorded a number of roles in French operas, among them Valentine in Faust (conducted by Kluytens, EMI).
