Born May 31, 1817 in Paris. French composer, violinist and conductor.

He received his musical education at the Paris Conservatory. Conductor of the Grand Opera, since 1874 – professor at the Paris Conservatory.

He is the author of operas, symphonies, spiritual compositions, ballets: “Lady Henrietta, or Greenwich Servant” (together with F. Flotov and F. Burgmüller; Deldevez belongs to the 3rd act, 1844), “Eucharis” (pantomime ballet, 1844) , Paquita (1846), Mazarina, or the Queen of Abruzza (1847), Vert – Vert (pantomime ballet, together with J. B. Tolbeck; Deldevez wrote the 1st act and part 2, 1851 ), “Bandit Yanko” (1858), “Stream” (together with L. Delibes and L. Minkus, 1866).

Deldevez’s writings are similar in style to French academic art of the 50s and 60s. His music is distinguished by harmony and grace of forms.

In the ballet “Paquita”, which is the most famous, there are many spectacular dances, plastic adagios, temperamental mass scenes. When this ballet was staged in 1881 in St. Petersburg, separate numbers written by L. Minkus were added to the composer’s music.

Edouard Deldevez died on November 6, 1897 in Paris.
